Yes, Kruger National Park is a low-risk malaria area, so precautions are recommended. All lodges in and around the park have mosquito nets and screens fitted as standard. The highest risk period is between November and April, at the end of the summer rainy season.

Morning and late afternoon game drives in Kruger National Park usually last three to three-and-a-half hours, and guided walks last about three hours. Full-day game drives run from early morning until gate closing time, with a break for lunch.

We recommend a minimum of three nights in Kruger National Park to see a good variety of wildlife. If you have more time, six days allows you to explore more of the park and increases the chances of varied and rewarding sightings.

Beyond game drives, Kruger National Park offers ancient rock art sites, mountain biking trails, guided bush walks, treetop accommodation, and spa treatments at select lodges, giving visitors a range of ways to experience the park beyond the vehicle.

The best time to visit Kruger National Park is during the dry winter season, from May to September, when thinning vegetation and low water levels concentrate wildlife around waterholes for excellent Big Five sightings. September is especially good as mornings are less cold. The wet summer season, from November to March, offers lush scenery, newborn animals, and excellent birding, though game viewing requires more patience.
