Maximize game viewing with multi-night stays & relaxed travel by small aircraft. Unforgettable memories await – book your Botswana dream today!
Your journey begins in Zimbabwe, where you will be warmly greeted by your private driver and transferred to the elegant Palm River Hotel. Nestled along the banks of the iconic Zambezi River under the shade of towering indigenous trees, this hotel offers a sanctuary of tranquility just moments from the action. On a quiet day, you can hear the distant roar and see the mist rising from the falls directly from the hotel grounds. This location perfectly balances relaxation with adventure, serving as your base for the next two nights.
During your stay, you have the freedom to curate your own experience. You might choose to explore the rainforest trails bordering the magnificent Victoria Falls (known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya or ‘The Smoke That Thunders’), or perhaps take to the sky in a helicopter or microlight for a breathtaking aerial view. For a more relaxed pace, join a luxury cruise on the Ra-Ikane river boat, enjoying birdwatching and sunset cocktails on the Zambezi. Adrenaline seekers can opt for white water rafting or bungee jumping off the bridge. Whether you seek thrills or serenity, Victoria Falls delivers.

After a delicious breakfast, you will transfer across the border into Botswana, heading toward the world-renowned Chobe National Park. Your destination is the historic Chobe Game Lodge, the only permanent safari lodge located inside the park itself. Perched on a hill, the lodge offers sweeping panoramic views of the Chobe River and its fertile floodplains. This region is affectionately known as the “Land of Giants,” boasting the highest concentration of elephants in Africa, with populations exceeding 40,000.
Over the next two days, you will immerse yourself in this diverse ecosystem through a variety of safari activities. Because the lodge is inside the park, you are first in line for wildlife sightings. You will explore the terrain on classic game drives in open-view vehicles, or take to the water on solar-electric powered safari boats for a silent, eco-friendly river cruise. Witness massive herds of buffalo and elephants converging at the water’s edge to drink, while keeping a sharp eye out for predators; lions, leopards, majestic African wild dogs, and crocodiles are regular sightings here. As the sun sets, enjoy a classic gin and tonic while watching the river turn gold

Following a final morning activity and breakfast at Chobe, you will transfer to Kasane airport for your first light aircraft flight. This scenic journey flies you over the Linyanti marsh and Savuti plains, offering endless views before landing in the Moremi Game Reserve. You will spend three nights at Camp Moremi, situated in a spectacular location where the solid earth meets the waters of the delta. This area is celebrated for its biodiversity and dramatic landscapes, featuring Mopane forests, floodplains, and lagoons.
Moremi offers a quintessential “Big Five” safari experience. Your days will be filled with morning and afternoon game drives led by expert guides. You might spot a leopard lounging in the branches of a Mopane tree, a pride of lions camouflaged in the tall grass, or herds of elephants grazing under the green canopy. In addition to land-based drives, you can explore the Xakanaxa Lagoon by boat, navigating the winding channels to view the impressive birdlife and aquatic ecosystems. This blend of land and water activities ensures you see the very best of Botswana’s wildlife

Light aircraft flight to the Moremi Game Reserve
All light aircraft flights within Botswana have a strict luggage allowance of 20 kg per passenger. Only soft bags are permitted, including for camera equipment and carry-on items. Hard-sided luggage and wheeled bags cannot be accommodated due to space constraints.
Your adventure continues with a flight deeper into the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Okavango Delta. You will touch down at Camp Okavango, a lodge dedicated to the water-based magic of this pristine wilderness. Unlike the previous camps, the focus here shifts from game drives to exploring the intricate network of waterways and islands that make the Delta unique.
For two days, you will experience the silence and beauty of the Delta through water-based activities. Glide through the reed-lined channels in a traditional mokoro (dugout canoe), poled by an experienced guide who will reveal the tiny details of the ecosystem, from painted reed frogs to vibrant kingfishers. For covering larger distances, modern motorboats allow you to roam vast expanses of water. If you wish to stretch your legs, guided bush walks on nearby islands offer a thrilling way to track larger land species on foot, providing an intimate connection with nature that vehicles cannot replicate

Absolutely! Botswana is one of the most sought after destinations in Africa because of its kaleidoscope of wonders. From the life-drenched arteries of the Okavango Delta to the legendary wildlife spectacles within Moremi, Khwai and Chobe, travellers are truly spoiled in this beautiful country. It is also perfect for those looking to explore predator rich areas and birdlife.
The expense of exploring Botswana varies greatly on your chosen travel style. Opting for a tailored, private safari will entail a considerably larger investment than joining an overland tour, and each option has its own set of trade-offs. A private guided Botswana safari allows for travel at your own pace, whereas an overland adventure operates within a specific timeline. Nevertheless, the shared cost of an overland tour makes it more economical, earning you more bang for your buck, without sacrificing the opportunity to encounter some of the world’s best wildlife sightings.
Many nationalities including South African passport holders do not require a visa for stays up to 90 days. However, because overlanding involves multi-region travel, and if you are planning to visit neighbouring countries such as Namibia or Zimbabwe, you may require a double-entry visa. Essentially, it is always best to check the latest visa requirements with the Botswana Embassy or consulate in your country.
Begin your packing list with essential documents: your valid passport, necessary visas, and comprehensive travel insurance. For your Botswana tour specifically, consider bringing lightweight clothing suitable for fluctuating temperatures, comfortable walking/hiking shoes, flip-flops, insect repellent, sunscreen, a headlamp, and a sleeping bag if camping. Other useful items include a reusable water bottle, personal medications, a quick-dry towel, and a retractable washing line. Given the soft-sided luggage requirement and the emphasis on packing light for overland vehicles, it's wise to consult your travel specialist for tour-specific recommendations, ensuring you bring only essential items.
Should you be arriving from or transitioning through a country with a risk of yellow fever transmission, you are required to present a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate, issued at least 10 days before arrival. This is applicable to travellers ages one year and above.
The best way to tour Africa overland depends on your travel style, budget, and how adventurous you’re feeling but the most popular and practical option for most travelers is to join a guided overland tour. Here’s a breakdown of the best options and what to consider:
