Mozambique Tours

Mozambique is Africa’s best-kept secret, where golden sands meet turquoise waters, and the rhythm of Marrabenta music fills the air. Overlanding here means freedom—cruising along palm-fringed coastlines, diving into world-class coral reefs, and camping under a sky ablaze with stars.

Expect warm smiles from locals, bustling markets brimming with fresh seafood and spices, and adventures that feel untouched by mass tourism. Whether you’re kayaking through mangrove forests, spotting dolphins off Tofo Beach, or exploring colonial-era Ilha de Moçambique, every moment is a celebration of wild, untamed beauty.

This is barefoot luxury meets rugged exploration—a destination that doesn’t just impress, but captivates the soul.

When to visit Mozambique

For the perfect combination of sunny beach days and prime safari conditions, plan your Mozambique trip during the dry season from April to November. Game viewing is at its absolute best in August and September. The summer months (December-March) bring hotter, more humid weather with rain, but it’s crucial to be aware that January and February are cyclone season in the south, making this a risky time to visit coastal archipelagos.

What Visa do I need to enter Mozambique?

The rules for entering Mozambique have changed significantly in 2026. The government has moved toward a modern, digital-first system that prioritizes pre-travel approval over traditional embassy visits or unpredictable border queues. Here’s everything you need to know: On February 11,

frequently asked questions

Yes! While standard travel precautions apply, Mozambique is generally safe for overlanders. Stick to well-traveled routes, avoid night driving, and follow local advice.

Highly recommended! Some coastal roads are sandy, and a 4x4 ensures access to remote beaches and parks.

As of February 13, 2026, the Mozambican government has launched a mandatory online platform for all visas and travel authorizations. To ensure a seamless entry to the white sands of Bazaruto or the streets of Maputo, please note the following:

  • Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA): Travelers from the UK, US, Canada, and most EU markets must now apply for an ETA online at least 48 hours prior to departure. The processing fee is approximately USD 48 per person.
  • Standard Visas: For those requiring a full visa, the new standard fee is approximately USD 190 per person. We recommend allowing 6–9 working days for processing.
  • How to Apply: Submit your application immediately via the official government portal: https://evisa.gov.mz/
Pro Tip: Due to the short notice of these changes, we strongly advise securing your authorization early to avoid last-minute disruptions. Our team is working closely with local partners to monitor further updates on pricing and implementation.

Carry cash (Meticais or USD)—many remote areas don’t accept cards, and ATMs can be unreliable.

Most of East Africa, including Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Rwanda, is situated in a malaria-endemic zone. While the risk is real, it should not deter you from traveling; it simply requires proactive preparation. Where is the risk highest? Malaria is generally more prevalent in low-lying, humid areas and coastal regions (like Zanzibar and Mombasa) compared to high-altitude areas (like the Ngorongoro Crater rim or the Rwanda highlands). The risk also increases during the "long rains" (March–May). How to Prepare:

  • Prophylaxis: Visit a travel clinic 4–6 weeks before your trip. Medications like Malarone, Doxycycline, or Lariam are commonly prescribed for East Africa.
  • Bite Prevention: This is your first line of defense. Use a repellent with 30–50% DEET and wear long-sleeved clothing from dusk until dawn.
  • Accommodations: Most lodges and tented camps provide mosquito nets or "insect-proof" tents. If your room has a net, use it—even if you don't hear any buzzing!
  • Yellow Fever Note: If you are traveling between East African countries (e.g., from Kenya to Tanzania), you will often be required to show a Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate at the border.
  • Expert Tip: Malaria symptoms can sometimes mimic a common flu and may only appear weeks after you return home. If you feel unwell after your trip, tell your doctor exactly where you traveled in East Africa.

May-November (dry season) offers ideal weather—warm days, cool nights, and perfect diving conditions.

A seafood lover’s dream! Think grilled lobster, spicy peri-peri chicken, and coconut-infused stews—all fresh and flavorful.
