Itinerary

Day 1: Johannesburg – Kruger National Park, South Africa

Our South African adventure begins with a northward journey from Johannesburg, the vibrant “City of Gold.” Following in the footsteps of intrepid explorers, we’ll skirt the outskirts of Pretoria, South Africa’s administrative capital, before venturing into the vast, open plains that define Africa. Our midday break takes us to the historical gold mining village of Haenertsburg. Steeped in fascinating stories, this charming stop offers a glimpse into South Africa’s rich past. Refueled and ready for more, we descend into the captivating Magoebaskloof – a lush, mountainous wonderland presided over by the legendary Rain Queen, Modjadji. Immerse yourself in the area’s verdant beauty, a stark contrast to the open plains we traversed earlier.

The final leg of today’s journey takes us to the world-renowned Greater Kruger National Park. This iconic park is a haven for wildlife, boasting a vast array of free-ranging animals. For the next two nights, we’ll call a comfortable bush lodge our home – a haven nestled within a private reserve bordering the Greater Kruger.

Here, in this private sanctuary, witness the magic of nature unfold. Animals roam freely, unrestricted by fences, creating unparalleled viewing opportunities. Embark on game drives in open vehicles, venturing out in the daytime and into the balmy evenings in search of Africa’s incredible creatures.

Our lodge, a seamless extension of the surrounding bush, offers the perfect retreat after a day of exploration. Sink into crisp, comfortable beds and unwind on your private balcony, where breathtaking views of the surrounding wilderness unfold. As night falls, drift off to sleep lulled by the symphony of sounds emanating from the African bush – a truly unforgettable experience.

This morning, embark on an unforgettable wildlife adventure. Join your qualified ranger on a guided exploration through the wilderness. With heightened senses, keep your eyes peeled for incredible animal encounters. But don’t just focus on the big game – your expert guide will reveal the smaller wonders often hidden from plain sight, from fascinating insects to unique plant life.

Before the midday sun intensifies, return to the lodge for a delicious brunch. Afterwards, unwind and embrace the serenity of your surroundings. Relax on the lodge deck, where a nearby waterhole provides a captivating natural scene. Witness a symphony of life unfold as various birds and animals come to quench their thirst, their interactions revealing the intricate pecking order of the wild. Perhaps enjoy a refreshing drink while indulging in some game viewing from this prime vantage point.

As the afternoon heat subsides, prepare for an adventure that transitions seamlessly into the night. Embark on an exhilarating open-vehicle game drive that extends into an enthralling night drive. Your quest? To discover the nocturnal creatures that come alive after dark.
