When is the best time to travel to East Africa?
The size and variety in East Africa means that it is a year round destination. However certain highlights are seasonal and are best visited during specific months.
Tanzania is ideal during July and August when the weather is mild. This period is also ideal game viewing conditions in the Serengeti as the animals usually migrate to Kenya’s Masai Mara during the dry season. December to mid March is the calving season (when young animals are born) in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater making this timing perfect for game viewing.
June to October is great for Zanzibar as the temperature is around 28 degrees Celsius perfect for lazy beach days.
Kenya plays home to the migration across the Mara River during July to September. Wildlife usually stay in the Masai Mara until November before heading back to the Serengeti.
