Itinerary

Your journey begins in Namibia’s capital, Windhoek. You will be collected at 06:00 am from the designated departure point for a scenic transfer toward the northern wilderness. The drive, lasting approximately 4 to 5 hours, transitions from the cityscapes to the vast, open horizons of the African bushveld. Upon arrival in the Greater Etosha National Park area, take time to settle into your lodge and refresh. The adventure begins in earnest this evening with a sunset safari drive in a private reserve. Conducted in open 4×4 vehicles, this first game drive offers a magical introduction to the local wildlife as the day cools and the African sun dips below the horizon

Today is dedicated entirely to the famous Etosha National Park. After an early breakfast, you will board an open 4×4 safari vehicle for a full-day game drive. Etosha, meaning “Great White Place,” is dominated by a massive mineral pan that can be seen from space. The park’s watering holes are the stage for some of Africa’s most dramatic wildlife interactions. Your guide will navigate through the savannah in search of elephants, lions, rhinos, and giraffes that congregate to drink. The stark white backdrop of the salt pans makes for unique photographic opportunities unlike anywhere else in Africa. You will return to your lodge in the late afternoon to relax and share stories of the day’s sightings over dinner

Today marks the official merging with the larger tour group; you will meet your tour guide and fellow travelers for a comprehensive trip briefing. Once introductions are complete, the group will board the truck for an afternoon game drive through Etosha. This elevated vehicle offers a different perspective for viewing game, allowing you to spot animals hiding in the tall grass as you traverse the park toward your next overnight destination

Leaving the arid beauty of Etosha behind, the tour heads northeast toward the lush Caprivi Strip. The journey leads to the Kavango River, a vital lifeline in this region. You will enter the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA), a massive protected zone spanning five countries. The landscape transforms dramatically here, shifting from salt pans to riverine forests. Your destination is Divundu, a tranquil spot on the riverbanks that serves as a gateway to the greener side of Namibia

Wake up to the sounds of the river. The morning highlight is a leisurely boat cruise along the Kavango River. As you drift along the water, keep your eyes peeled for hippos submerged in the shallows, crocodiles basking on the banks, and a dazzling array of birdlife. In the afternoon, you have the option to join a game drive in the nearby Mahangu National Park. Often called a “hidden gem,” this smaller park is biodiversity-rich and offers chances to see buffalo, elephants, and rare antelope species like the sable and roan.

Get ready for a true wilderness immersion. You will leave the overland truck behind in Maun and transfer to smaller 4×4 safari vehicles. Please pack a small bag with only the essentials for the next two nights. For early risers, there is an opportunity to take an optional scenic flight over the Delta—a breathtaking way to view the vast wetlands from above.
The group then travels toward the Khwai Conservation Area. In the afternoon, you will experience the silence of the Delta on a traditional Mokoro excursion (dugout canoe). Polers will guide you through the reed-lined channels, offering a peaceful and up-close encounter with the waterway’s ecosystem. You will overnight in a rustic mobile fly-camp, sleeping in Meru-style permanent tents equipped with beds and en-suite bucket showers

Prepare for a full day of safari in one of Africa’s most pristine wildlife areas: the Moremi Game Reserve. You will traverse the rugged terrain in open 4×4 vehicles, navigating bumpy roads that wind through wetlands, open waters, and savannah woodlands. Moremi is renowned for its density of wildlife, including the endangered African Wild Dog, leopards, and lions. This is wild Africa at its finest—unfenced and unpredictable. Frequently Asked Questions

Many nationalities including South African passport holders do not require a visa for stays up to 90 days. However, because overlanding involves multi-region travel, and if you are planning to visit neighbouring countries such as Namibia or Zimbabwe, you may require a double-entry visa. Essentially, it is always best to check the latest visa requirements with the Botswana Embassy or consulate in your country.

Begin your packing list with essential documents: your valid passport, necessary visas, and comprehensive travel insurance. For your Botswana tour specifically, consider bringing lightweight clothing suitable for fluctuating temperatures, comfortable walking/hiking shoes, flip-flops, insect repellent, sunscreen, a headlamp, and a sleeping bag if camping. Other useful items include a reusable water bottle, personal medications, a quick-dry towel, and a retractable washing line. Given the soft-sided luggage requirement and the emphasis on packing light for overland vehicles, it's wise to consult your travel specialist for tour-specific recommendations, ensuring you bring only essential items.

* Layering Clothes: Bring layering pieces as temperatures can vary wildly—days are warm, but winter nights in Namibia and Botswana can drop below zero.
* Essentials: A buff or scarf is highly recommended for dust and sun protection.
* Footwear: Comfortable walking shoes, trainers, sneakers, or flip-flops are usually sufficient; bulky hiking boots are generally unnecessary unless strenuous hiking is planned.
* Security: A small padlock is needed for your luggage locker in the truck.
* Health: Insect repellent (with DEET) is crucial for malaria prevention, especially at sunset.

Yes to both! Independent adventurers can enjoy trekking, wildlife, and scenic variety and mature travellers can experience historic Rovos Rail journeys through Hwange and to Victoria Falls.

Yes, Namibia is considered one of the safest countries in Africa for travelers. Like any destination, it's best to follow local advice, travel in groups where possible, and keep valuables secure.

English is the official language. You'll also hear Afrikaans, German, and various local languages like Oshiwambo spoken throughout the country.
