Upon your arrival at Royal Airstrip, you’ll receive a warm welcome and be seamlessly transferred to your lodge, nestled within the captivating Lower Zambezi region. The Lower Zambezi National Park, spanning approximately 4,092 square kilometers (1,580 square miles), is a haven of diverse ecosystems, including lush floodplains, dense woodlands, and scenic escarpments. Located on the Zimbabwean border, it’s celebrated for its abundant game, from majestic herds of elephants to hippos, buffalo, crocodiles, and fish eagles. You will stay at Baines’ River Camp, set under Jackalberry and Tamarind trees right on the banks of the Zambezi River. This exquisite lodge blends traditional charm with modern luxury, offering an ultimate escape for the discerning traveler. Each of the eight Explorer Suites and one Family Suite accommodates up to 20 guests, providing elegance, privacy, and spectacular river views from every freestanding suite. South Luangwa National Park, bordering the Luangwa River, is famed for its breathtaking and untouched wilderness. Thanks to successful anti-poaching campaigns, it has become a world-renowned wildlife haven, particularly celebrated as the birthplace of the walking safari. Over these days, you’ll have the chance to partake in a diverse range of activities, including traditional game drives, exhilarating walking safaris, unique cycling safaris, and enriching cultural visits to the nearby Mkasanga Village. Following breakfast, your journey continues to the vast and truly wild North Luangwa National Park. A scenic 30-minute flight will take you to Mwaleshi airstrip (own expense), followed by a road transfer to Mwaleshi Camp, hidden within a picturesque bend of the Mwaleshi River. This camp is described as a “truly special place – unlike any other in Zambia”. Featuring just four thatched chalets built from natural materials, each with en-suite bathrooms and uninterrupted river views, Mwaleshi offers a genuine feeling of solitude and seclusion. It’s located in an area of pristine wilderness with very few roads, yet the game viewing is excellent, with buffalo and lion roaming in vast numbers. Your days here will be filled with immersive morning and afternoon walks, following existing animal trails to track big game on foot in Zambia’s wildest park.
