Your expedition commences at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where a warm welcome from our representatives marks the seamless transition into the heart of East Africa. A private transfer whisks you to the historic Sarova Stanley Hotel, a landmark of colonial elegance and modern Kenyan hospitality. Here, you will receive a professional briefing on the nuances of your upcoming safari. Settle into your Deluxe room, which serves as a sophisticated “base camp” for your first night, allowing you to synchronize with the rhythm of the continent before we head into the wild.

Your day begins bright and early! After breakfast, your private guide will meet you at the hotel for the scenic drive to Samburu. You’ll arrive at the luxurious Samburu Intrepids Camp (or similar) just in time for a fresh, relaxing lunch.

This afternoon, the wild calls. Head out on your first thrilling game drive to track down Samburu’s legendary “Special Five”—the elegant Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Beisa Oryx, the Somali Ostrich, and the fascinating Gerenuk (often called the “giraffe gazelle”). With over 50 wildlife species roaming the reserve, keep your eyes peeled for an elusive leopard or cheetah. Wrap up your day with a delicious dinner and a peaceful night under the African stars.

After breakfast, journey to the lush, mist-shrouded highlands of Aberdare National Park. Your afternoon begins with a warm welcome and a delicious lunch at the elegant Aberdare Country Club.

Next, you’ll head deep into the heart of the ancient forest to The Ark Lodge. Because the cosy, cabin-style rooms at The Ark are designed for intimate forest viewing, you’ll pack a small overnight bag and leave your main luggage in safe, secure custody at the Country Club.

Shaped like Noah’s Ark, this unique lodge overlooks a floodlit waterhole and salt lick. Spend your evening watching elephants, rhinos, and leopards from the open-air viewing decks, or step into the underground bunker to come face-to-face with the wildlife at ground level as they drink and bathe just feet away.

This afternoon, set out into a landscape unlike any other. This 188-square-kilometer sanctuary is famous for sheltering both black and white rhinos, pride of lions, Cape buffaloes, waterbucks, and Reticulated giraffes. Depending on water levels, the striking 68-square-kilometer alkaline lake can play host to a breathtaking blanket of thousands of pink greater and lesser flamingos. As you explore, you’ll also drive through Africa’s largest, most dramatic Euphorbia forest.

Return to the lodge as the sun sets to enjoy a delicious dinner and a peaceful overnight stay.
