15 Day Botswana Wilderness Safari

We will meet and transfer you to your lodge after your arrival at Maun International Airport. Outside of Maun on the way to the Okavango Delta lies the Thamalakane River Lodge.  You can spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure taking part in one of the Lodge’s many activities. The pre-departure meeting will take place at 18h00 this evening at the lodge with your guide and the rest of your group

Our first stop today will be Etsha 13, on the western border of the Okavango Delta. The Kalahari Delta flows into the Kalahari Desert without reaching the coast, making it unique.

On the second day, we explore a network of water pathways through thick vegetation in mokoros – traditional dugout canoes, discovering a variety of birds and wildlife. During the 1½ hour guided walk we will stop at a secluded island to see elephants, waterbuck, and other animals that live in this water-filled paradise

Following a delicious breakfast, we journey south via Maun to Mankwe Adventure Camp, your gateway to the legendary Moremi Game Reserve. This reserve, a haven for diverse mammals, promises thrilling game drives packed with incredible wildlife sightings. Remember, the magic of Moremi changes with the seasons! For peak game viewing, join us between August and November, the dry season, when animals congregate near the river, and we’ll venture further for unforgettable encounters. Summer brings a vibrant spectacle of birdlife, with abundant wildfowl and raptors gracing the skies, offering a different, equally captivating safari experience.

Unleash your inner explorer with a day dedicated to thrilling game drives! Hop aboard our open 4×4 vehicle as we delve into the Greater Moremi area, maximizing your chances of encountering the region’s incredible wildlife on both morning and afternoon safaris. As dusk settles, prepare for an unforgettable night drive led by your expert guide, revealing the secrets of Moremi’s nocturnal inhabitants and offering a chance to spot elusive creatures under the starry African sky.

We then travel east towards the Makgadikgadi Pans, a large lake that was once fed by a river but has become saline and empty. Approximately 37,000 square km of this area is dotted with palm islands and comprises a multitude of salt pans and vast grass plains. The Great Makgadikgadi comprises the largest area of salt pans in the world. After arriving in the lodge, we rest for the night.

During the morning, we drive to Nata Bird Sanctuary where we can enjoy a spectacular view of the Sowa Pan, a part of the Greater Makgadikgadi Pans (please note a visit to the pans is subject to road conditions and water levels, as well as time constraints). Following breakfast, we continue our journey to Kasane, the gateway to the Chobe National Park. Chobe National Park, Botswana’s second largest and covering 10,566 square kilometers, has one of the biggest concentrations of elephants on the continent. Afternoons are free for optional activities or for relaxing by the pool.

You will start the following morning with a game drive in Chobe National Park. We will return to the lodge for a late breakfast and relaxation before our boat cruise on the Chobe River begins around 3pm. A variety of birds can be seen here, as well as elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of antelope.

Today, we journey to Robins Camp, nestled in Hwange National Park’s northwest corner, Zimbabwe’s largest wildlife sanctuary. This biodiversity hotspot, teeming with over 100 mammal and 400 bird species, is just a stone’s throw from Victoria Falls. Upon arrival, launch your adventure with an optional game drive. The next day, prepare for an unforgettable full-day Hwange safari, encountering massive elephant herds, buffalo, zebra, and a remarkable giraffe population. Be alert for predators and rare species amidst the park’s vibrant birdlife. Day 12 offers a final morning game drive, followed by leisure time or optional lodge activities, allowing you to savour the magic of Hwange’s untamed wilderness.

After a final breakfast amidst the African bush, we journey back towards the majestic Victoria Falls. The remainder of your day is yours to explore, relax, and anticipate the wonders that await at this iconic natural marvel.

Today is yours to discover the town’s vibrant spirit, indulging in thrilling adventures or enriching cultural encounters. Your guide will lead you on an awe-inspiring tour of the magnificent Victoria Falls, locally known as “Mosi-oa-Tunya,” the “Smoke that Thunders.” As the day draws to a close, unwind with a tranquil sunset cruise along the mighty Zambezi River, capturing unforgettable moments as the African sun dips below the horizon.

After breakfast, our safari comes to an end. We will transfer you to Victoria Falls Airport in time for your departure flight.
