This stunning 14 day safari to remote northern Namibia is the ideal choice for you if you are an African enthusiast and are interested in culture, desolate landscapes and the culture of the continent. Designed for travellers who have been to Namibia before but are seeking some adventure, who do not mind long driving distances.
We recommend arriving at Hosea Kutako Airport no later than midday. Once you arrive at the Elegant Guesthouse in Windhoek, your transfer driver will take you to the hotel, where you can freshen up and rest after the long flight. Your guide takes you on a tour of the city in the afternoon. Among the sights you see are Christ Church, Tintenpalast (House of Parliament) and Independence Avenue, the former Kaiserstraße. Our recommendation for dinner is Joe’s Beerhouse (own expense) in the evening.

We’re heading north after breakfast! There is an extensive farmland landscape as you travel along the route, as well as the historic Waterberg Plateau, standing majestically over the surrounding flat plains. The Hoba meteorite is a detour you take as you reach Grootfontein. Approximately 80,000 years ago, it hit the ground and is the largest meteorite known to exist. Your accommodations for the night, the Fiume Bush Camp, are finally reached in the afternoon. Take a deep breath, relax, and look forward to an interesting day ahead.

On your way to Etosha National Park, you pass through Tsumeb and along the deep blue Lake Otjikoto. Outside the park gates, you’ll find your accommodation for the night. Prior to your first game drive in the national park, you have some time to relax. There is definitely something fascinating about Etosha ‘Great White Place’, due to its diverse wildlife and landscape. There are Acacia trees on the wide-open plains, and there is a large salt pan spanning for miles. Many antelope species, elephants, giraffes, lions, and more await you! In the evening, you can enjoy a delicious meal around the campfire as you reflect on the day’s events. Mushara Bush Camp is where you spend the night.

In the Etosha National Park, we will be able to see a great deal of wildlife on the following two days. Etosha’s central part can be explored intensely since you are not in a hurry. There are a lot of animals of all kinds at the waterholes, especially in the dry months, such as elephants, zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, oryx, impalas, springboks, and with a little luck lions, rhinos, and leopards. Your guide will help you observe the animal and bird behavior as they quench their thirst. Outside the national park, you visit Etosha Village before sunset. While two enjoyable safari days draw to a close, settle in and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.

You will continue your journey after breakfast to the western part of Etosha National Park, where you will experience a full day of exciting wildlife encounters. Despite your limited knowledge of the area’s flora and fauna, you will be amazed at how much information you have already gathered. Observe animals you might have missed these past few days. After leaving Etosha National Park in the afternoon, you drive to the nearby Hobatere Lodge. Slowly watching the sun set as you drive through the Hobatere concession area with its beautiful scenery. Afterwards, you can take a night drive in an open safari vehicle (optional) in search of some shy nocturnal creatures (if you’re lucky).

As you explore the Himba village in the morning, you’ll learn about their culture and traditions, as well as see how they live their daily lives. Women’s bodies are characterised by an intense red color. They dye their hair and protect their skin from the sun by mixing butter fat with ochre powder and wood ash. They also have beautiful jewellery, made from iron, copper, and shells, as well as intricately braided hair. A Himba guide will accompany you on a walk along the Kunene River in the afternoon. There might even be a crocodile lying in the sun as he explains the diverse vegetation found in the region. Approximately 2-3 hours later, we return to Omarunga Epupa Falls Camp.

Many nationalities including South African passport holders do not require a visa for stays up to 90 days. However, because overlanding involves multi-region travel, and if you are planning to visit neighbouring countries such as Namibia or Zimbabwe, you may require a double-entry visa. Essentially, it is always best to check the latest visa requirements with the Botswana Embassy or consulate in your country.
June–October (dry season) is ideal. November–March is warmer but rainier; April–May sees heavy showers.
Expect impromptu village stops, visits to traditional markets, and encounters with artisans (weavers, silk-scarf makers). In Anja, local community reserves protect lemurs while creating livelihoods—meaningful, grassroots conservation in action.
