Anticipate exploring the world’s oldest desert. From Windhoek, an enchanting high point of your 22 day journey of Namibia. We’re going to the Namib Naukluft Park early in the morning to trek up one of the large dunes. Magnificent vistas across a sea of dunes are the reward for the relatively difficult ascent on soft sand. You go to Deadvlei and Sossusvlei, which are two clay pans encircled by dunes. The striking contrast between the rust-red dunes, dark camel thorn trees, and the pure blue sky is evident. You investigate Sesriem Canyon as well. The Tsauchab River carved out this one-kilometer-long and thirty-meter-wide gorge millions of years ago. You can stroll down the canyon during the dry season and observe how the sunshine reflects off the sheer walls. You arrive back at the Elegant Desert Camp in the afternoon.
