Hi Celia Good to hear from you. The memory that is precious about the trip is the love and attention the guides gave to all animals big and small. They would stop the vehicle to pick up a tortoise and place it with great care out of harm's way. Also the tiny birds high in the trees were important enough to stop the truck and allow us to view and be educated about them. Sol and Motli were a treat. Their teamwork and friendship were a plus to our trip. They treated us with patience and respect at all times. You were a star too Celia! You could send me the prize for a trip from Capetown to Botswana and Namibia please, Kindest regards Cheryl Gordon

Dear Huntley, Thank you for reaching out! The trip was absolutely magical. I am a well travelled individual (over 50 countries), and this has to be one of the all time highlights of my travel experience. It was my first time travelling overland and with a group of strangers, as the majority of the time I travel solo. It exceeded my expectations in every category. Norman and Arlington were fantastic. Cooking for different diet requirements for that number of people was no easy task but they managed every meal with ease and always seemed to know what was best for the day at hand (from fresh watermelon on a hot day to a filling delicious chicken stew in the evening). I was so impressed by how well timed all our excursions were, and that they knew how to gauge the weather so that we would have the best experience. I never at once felt like I had fallen into a "tourist trap" and that level of authenticity elevated the journey. Their knowlege of the country, politics, history, flora and fauna was impressive to say the least. Having an agricultural background, I particularly loved the farm stays and the ability to engage with people on the farms and understand their operations a little more. An absolute highlight was an afternoon tour of the farm with "Frans" who kept us all entertained and educated at the same time. It will definitely be one of the most memorable occasions for all of us. I loved the 4 x 4 dune experience in Swakopmund as well - the tour operator was excellent and it is something I would definitely book again. I am very glad I booked the accommodation option given how hot it was, and every destination had a lovely room with aircon and comfortable bed and shower which is all you need. The only disappointing place was the third night (German guest house) as none of the amenities (fan or aircon) worked and it was unbelievably hot. But other than that the accommodation was fantastic. I will be booking Namibia again with Nomads but this time with (hopefully) 11 of my friends so we can experience it together. I am in the process of onboarding people and we will be reverting back to you as soon as we have dates that suit everyone. Thanks again for a fantastic trip, and see you soon!

Thank you. It was an amazing tour which I never will forget. It is difficult to say which one particular moment as there were so many exiting moments. I really enjoyed the game drives, especially also the boat ride in Chobe, but also the Victoria falls and the desert in Namibia were amazing. I think it was not my last stay in Africa.

My trip was an unforgettable adventure, made all the better by the incredible team behind it. A heartfelt thank you to Celia from African Overland Tours for her outstanding organisation before the trip. She was responsive, helpful, and ensured everything ran smoothly before we even set foot on the truck. Once on the road, we were in the expert hands of Zanelle and Francina from Nomad Africa Tours. Zanelle, our guide, was knowledgeable, approachable, and truly passionate about every place we visited. Her insights and leadership made the journey even more enriching. And Francina, our amazing cook, treated us to delicious meals every day – always prepared with care and served with warmth and good humour. Thanks to this fantastic team, the trip exceeded all expectations. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend both African Overland Tours and Nomad Africa Tours for anyone considering this kind of adventure. Thank you again, Celia, Zanelle, and Francina!

Lee was absolutely one of the most considerate, proactive and professional people I have ever worked with! Planning for a safari of my length (75 days) got overwhelming at times due to so many variables but Lee worked with me every step of the way. As a result, everything went smoothly from start to finish. Lee very much gave me peace of mind and held my hand along the way to make everything seamless. A great experience!

Hello Lee! I just wanted to take a moment to thank you and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make my visit to Uganda and Rwanda an adventure I'll never forget! From the moment I met my group leader, Richard (AKA Guide and Chef Extraordinaire), and Gidi (AKA Guide, Driver, and Mechanic Extraordinaire), I knew I was in safe hands. These two were so welcoming, engaging, and ready to help in every way. They kept me informed about what to expect at every turn, and when I had questions, they answered them with kindness and a smile. We shared plenty of laughs and learned a lot about each other along the way! Now, let’s talk about accommodations! I slept in tent number 160, and I absolutely loved it. It was spacious and in great condition. There’s something magical about sleeping under the stars in a well-placed tent! And the food? Wow! I was treated to an abundance of fresh fruit and delicious meal options. I think I may have gained a few kilos despite being so active! The vehicle we used, which I lovingly nicknamed "The Beast," was roomy and had plenty of windows for all the stunning views. I enjoyed every bump and twist in the road, feeling safe and secure the whole time. As for the most memorable moment? That’s a tough one! There were so many incredible experiences that will stay in my heart. But if I had to choose, it would be the gorillas. Hiking into the jungle to see them and learning about their lives beforehand was truly unforgettable. Seeing their faces and interactions reminded me of our shared connection and the importance of protecting these amazing creatures. Thank you again for all your support! Warmly, William Ramirez

Hi Tam, Thanks so much for your email. You beat me to it, I’ve been meaning to reach out and say a big thank you for helping me organise one of the best and memorable trips I’ve taken. It’s honestly very hard to pick just one stand out moment. I met some amazing people which made my trip very special, I’ve made good friends so under the circumstances I was travelling it made life easier. I loved the diversity of the countries we explored too, for a 20 day tour it offered so much from desert, glamping in the jungle, being in the water with hippos, seeing so many lions, elephants and giraffes and Victoria Falls was an amazing place to finish. We saw a pair of lions mating, watched another pair sleeping and on the last day came upon a kill where the lionesses had killed a buffalo and then let their cubs learn to kill the baby buffalo. That went on for quite a while! But it was something I’ll never forget. Also the day we spent in Cape Town was also very fun. I loved seeing the penguins and the coast and our drive. I keep telling everyone about Cape Town’s amazing food scene too! I’ve got quite a few photos too. Does African Overland Tours need any photos? I’d be happy to share some of the accommodation or any of our activities if that helps? I’m trying to get into my photography so happy to share. Hope you’re having a great start to the week Amy

I've just completed the 24 day Cape town to Jo'burg via Vic Falls camping tour with Drifters. It was a truly amazing experience, but it's also one that probably wouldn't have been possible for me without the amazing help of Celia Myburgh of African Overland Tours. Celia helped me at every turn. My plans were continually changing and my itinerary, as a result, was always changing. I was always changing my mind as well which must have made it quite frustrating for her, but she always responded with a fabulous, cheerful can-do response, and nothing was too much trouble for her, every query was answered promptly, and she always had options for me. If you need help travelling in Africa, I couldn't think of a better person to help with all the unknowns. I know if (when!) I go back I'll be contacting Celia for help. The Drifters tour was fabulous. We saw so much, and it was a perfect introduction to Southern Africa. It was 24 days of unique experiences and every day I experienced or saw something that I hadn't before. It was great. This tour ticks so many boxes,- Namibia dunes, Swakopmund, Cape Cross seals, Spitzkoppe, Etosha, Okavango Delta, Vic Falls, Rhino Tracking (yes we got close to a few!) and more. This was complimented by our amazing guides, Bheki and Takalani. The knowledge these guys have is astounding. They seem to know so much about everything and everywhere we travelled and so really added to the enjoyment of the trip. They are both the most amazing cooks as well. Every night we had something different, and it was all delicious and fresh. If you like camping and don't mind long days in the truck this is a terrific way to see heaps of Southern Africa and give you a taste of the many different experiences on offer here, and if you get Bheki or Takalani as guides, then you're in for a truly wonderful and fun time.
