Hi Lee,
Hope you are keeping well. So sorry for the delay getting back to you, things have been crazy hectic since I got home. I haven't even looked through my photos properly yet!
I had a great time, and thinking about the next one as always.
Khwai guest house is so cool! They were amazing. The transfers to and from Maun were right on time, same driver both ways and he was great. The staff at the guest house are lovely and so accommodating. I had the benefit of being there in low season so there was only me and two other guests. I was the only person on most of the game drives so that was cool. The resident guide Stan was so committed to driving until we found every animal, and we did find everything! I haven't found a better location for wildlife yet. It's a great place to end a Botswana trip, because if you've missed animals elsewhere, you'll see them in Khwai. We even got closer to the lions than we wanted to, when the truck got stuck and they arrived while we were trying to get unstuck! But I'm here to tell the tale.
And as you'll be aware the roads are very flooded and broken up after the heavy rains, so they're routes at the moment, not roads! A lot of detours and unpredictable arrival times, and lots of roadworks in Zimbabwe from Bulawayo to Vic Falls. So I'd advise anyone going soon to just pack their patience and lean into it, it's Africa with a bit extra
I'm going to try to get my photos done at the weekend when I have time and I'll send you some.
Thanks again for helping me to organise a great trip and I'll be in touch for next time!
Best wishes,
Sinead.
