When to visit Zanzibar

For the quintessential Zanzibar beach holiday with perfect, sunny weather, plan your trip during the cool, dry season from June to October. For a hotter and more humid experience with a chance of refreshing showers, the period from November to March is also a great option. It is best to avoid the main rainy season of April and May, which sees heavy, persistent rainfall and can disrupt travel plans.

Hi Huntley,

Sorry for the delayed response!! We are now travelling through Europe and things have been busy. I also wanted to take some time to really try to reflect on our trip through Africa to be able to give you the best feedback I can!

In all honesty, the trip was exceptional.

There were days that were (much) more difficult than others - particularly in the second portion of the trip from Zambia to Tanzania (time on the truck mostly; some accommodation difficulties)… but we wouldn’t change any of it for anything. The memories will stay with us forever.

It’s hard to narrow down all the highlights, but for sure (not in order):

  1. Bushman’s Camp (could’ve spent more time there)
  2. Sossusvlei and Deadvlei (Solitaire)
  3. Swakopmund - the time for optional activities was really great (we did the catamaran and the quad biking)
  4. Himba Tribe Visit
  5. The two days in the Okavango Delta (that tented camp was phenomenal)
  6. Victoria Falls (we would have liked more time there)
  7. South Luanda - the night game drive was incredible!
  8. Zanzibar - Stonetown and the resort
  9. Maasai Village Visit
  10. The Serengeti - this was such a wonderful way to end our tour!!
  11. The Nomad Crew in both of our tours (drivers, guides and cooks). An absolute highlight for sure.

We also very much appreciate all of your support and assistance leading up to the tour, and while we were away.

We do plan on taking another tour through Kenya and Uganda at some point in the next five years, and are hoping to add on some more time in Tanzania to climb Kilimanjaro (once Spencer is old enough) and spend more time in the Serengeti.

Please let me know if you need anything more from us.

It has been an absolute pleasure,

Shawna
