This 15-day East Africa Migration Safari offers the best of the famous wildebeest migration through Tanzania and Kenya and a chance to discover all the wildlife that East Africa holds. This intimate safari experience offers comfortable accommodations in lodges, chalets, and permanent tented camps each night. Starting and ending in Nairobi, our journey encompasses the Serengeti, Amboseli, Lake Manyara, and Tarangire National Parks, as well as the Ngorongoro Crater.
Upon your arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you will be met by the guides and transported to your hotel.

We will have breakfast and then travel to the Nairobi National Park for a game drive. Then we head to the Giraffe Centre and the Daphne Sheldrick Animal Orphanage where baby animals are rehabilitated. You can enjoy watching them taking mud baths and maybe even touch them. Afterwards we will have lunch and then take a drive to Amboseli National Park.

We will enjoy a leisurely breakfast and then travel to the border before arriving at Arusha. We will pass Marunga waterfalls on a fairly strenuous walk. Be sure to have sturdy shoes and you will need a good level of fitness. Then it is on to Arusha via Moshi, the entrance to Kilimanjaro National Park.

We will have a full day of driving today, enjoying the amazing views of the Maasai Steppe and mountains. Tarangire has big herds of 30,000 elephants, 25,000 wildebeests and 30,000 zebra that migrate in a cyclical pattern which can be seen depending on seasonal changes.

After breakfast, you will be collected from the hotel and set off towards Lake Manyara National Park. At the north-western corner of Lake Manyara, a crystalline soda lake at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment, is a spectacular reserve. The park is known for its large flocks of flamingos.

After breakfast, we go to the market and visit a Chagga family that produces banana beer in Mto-wa-Mbu to learn about the culture of the area. On the way, your guide will introduce you to the various fruits and vegetables growing in the area and explain the irrigation system that sustains local crops. A delicious, home-cooked meal in a local Mama’s home is followed by a cultural encounter in a Maasai Boma. Known for their distinctive traditional clothing and semi-nomadic lifestyle, the Maasai tribe is semi-nomadic herders. We take a walking tour to Lake Papyrus in the late afternoon. This lake is full of abundant birdlife and hippos and is a great place for travelers to enjoy.
We can do some light trekking to the waterfall if time permits. On this tour, you’ll see the lake on top of the Rift valley wall; then, you’ll visit a banana plantation and rice field, and end with a visit to a village. We return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

We will leave early this morning to enjoy a game drive in the very famous Ngorongoro Crater. This is an amazing wildlife experience and a highlight of the safari. You will find the ‘Big 5’ here, as well as a small population of endangered black rhinos. Enjoy a picnic lunch before heading off for the Serengeti southern plains. The terrain has grass savannahs that stretch on for miles with rocky outcrops that make this area unique.

We will be exploring the Seronera area of the Serengeti which is the most central and easily accessible region of the Serengeti. It is also where the headquarters are based and where the larger lodges are located. Expect open plains of grasslands with plenty of wildlife to see.

We will have breakfast and then make our way to Lake Victoria, passing the villages of the Sukuma tribe. This rural tribe still make a living by farming the land and grow nuts, sorghum, cassava and farm livestock. You will be able to relax in the afternoon or do some birdwatching along the lake shore.

We start our day off by going on a boat excursion which will take us to local fishing villages. We travel north to the Kenyan border and the amazing Masai Mara National Park. We meet another tribe, the Maasai tribe who still farm cattle in this area. The area is made up of riverine forests, acacia forests and open plains of the savannah.

We start our journey to Nairobi today after breakfast. We’ll visit the Giraffe Centre and the Karen Blixen Museum. The museum is the historic farmhouse where Karen Blixen, the renowned author of “Out of Africa,” lived from 1917 to 1931, until she left Kenya after a series of personal hardships. Late in the afternoon, we’ll arrive at your hotel. If time permits, you can explore the city where you can visit the Kazuri Beads Centre and buy some beads. The ceramic beads are hand-made by the women and called ‘Kazuri’ which means ‘small and beautiful. Nairobi is a bustling city that is fast-paced, and typically cosmopolitan.
