    Itinerary


    Day 1

    Lower Zambezi, Zambia

    Upon your arrival at Royal Airstrip, you’ll receive a warm welcome and be seamlessly transferred to your lodge, nestled within the captivating Lower Zambezi region. The Lower Zambezi National Park, spanning approximately 4,092 square kilometers (1,580 square miles), is a haven of diverse ecosystems, including lush floodplains, dense woodlands, and scenic escarpments. Located on the Zimbabwean border, it’s celebrated for its abundant game, from majestic herds of elephants to hippos, buffalo, crocodiles, and fish eagles. You will stay at Baines’ River Camp, set under Jackalberry and Tamarind trees right on the banks of the Zambezi River. This exquisite lodge blends traditional charm with modern luxury, offering an ultimate escape for the discerning traveler. Each of the eight Explorer Suites and one Family Suite accommodates up to 20 guests, providing elegance, privacy, and spectacular river views from every freestanding suite. Expect amenities like air-conditioning, ceiling fans, minibars, personal safes, king-size beds, and spacious bathrooms. The day concludes with a fully inclusive experience

    Lower Zambezi, Zambia

    Today offers an incredible opportunity to delve deeper into the Lower Zambezi Valley with both morning and afternoon activities. You can look forward to thrilling game drives and unique water-based game viewing experiences. The park’s rich variety of habitats provides a sanctuary for a wide range of wildlife species, ensuring an unforgettable game viewing experience. Beyond the scheduled activities, the camp’s prime location allows for optional game drives and walks within the Lower Zambezi National Park, or exploring the Zambezi River by motorboat and canoe, even trying your hand at catching a tigerfish. All meals and activities are included as part of your fully inclusive stay

    Day 3 - 5

    South Luangwa National Park, Zambia

    After a delicious breakfast, you’ll board a flight to Mfuwe Airport (own expense), where you’ll be met and transferred to Tafika Camp, your home for the next three nights. Situated on the banks of the Luangwa River, Tafika Camp offers amazing views, making it a wonderful place to relax. South Luangwa National Park, bordering the Luangwa River, is famed for its breathtaking and untouched wilderness. Thanks to successful anti-poaching campaigns, it has become a world-renowned wildlife haven, particularly celebrated as the birthplace of the walking safari. Over these days, you’ll have the chance to partake in a diverse range of activities, including traditional game drives, exhilarating walking safaris, unique cycling safaris, and enriching cultural visits to the nearby Mkasanga Village. Your stay at Tafika Camp is fully inclusive of all meals, fees, and activities, with most drinks (excluding premium brands) also included

    Day 6 - 7

    North Luangwa National Park, Zambia

    Following breakfast, your journey continues to the vast and truly wild North Luangwa National Park. A scenic 30-minute flight will take you to Mwaleshi airstrip (own expense), followed by a road transfer to Mwaleshi Camp, hidden within a picturesque bend of the Mwaleshi River. This camp is described as a “truly special place – unlike any other in Zambia”. Featuring just four thatched chalets built from natural materials, each with en-suite bathrooms and uninterrupted river views, Mwaleshi offers a genuine feeling of solitude and seclusion. It’s located in an area of pristine wilderness with very few roads, yet the game viewing is excellent, with buffalo and lion roaming in vast numbers. Your days here will be filled with immersive morning and afternoon walks, following existing animal trails to track big game on foot in Zambia’s wildest park. You can even enjoy wallowing in the Mwaleshi River between walking safaris. Your stay is fully inclusive of all meals, fees, activities, and most drinks (excluding premium brands)

    Onward Travel Plans

    Due to circumstances beyond our control while on tour (such as border crossings, traffic, breakdowns and delays, etc), the end time on the last day cannot be guaranteed. Therefore we strongly recommend you stay the night and fly out the next day. Please consult with your booking consultant.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Transport

    Fully equipped 4x4 Toyota Land Cruises are used that seat 12 people. The windows are large which is perfect for game viewing and the vehicle are air-conditioned. All excess luggage is carried on the roof racks to ensure comfort in the vehicle.

    Travelling Times and Distances

    Travelling times vary due to road conditions, border crossings, detours and weather conditions. Travelling on the roads is far different to travelling in your home country so sit back and enjoy the scenery.

    Accommodation

    The accommodation is middle of the range African standard lodges. Some of these are in National Parks, on the banks of the river, or other places of interest. You will stay in a mix of lodges, chalets and tented camps. You can enjoy en-suites and the facilities in the accommodation such as the pool and bar areas.

    Meals

    Most breakfasts and dinners are included on the tour and can be enjoyed in the restaurants. On some nights the guide will prepare traditional African food. Please advise us beforehand regarding special dietary requirements.
