Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi, Kenya

Welcome to East Africa! Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), you’ll be warmly greeted by our representatives for a seamless airport transfer to your comfortable city hotel. Enjoy a briefing on your exciting safari arrangements. Settle in for an overnight stay in Nairobi with bed and breakfast.

Day 2: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park, Kenya

After a delicious breakfast, your dedicated guide driver will collect you from your hotel for a scenic drive to Amboseli National Park. Arrive in time for a satisfying lunch. Embark on an exhilarating afternoon game drive in Amboseli, renowned for its large herds of elephants. Keep your eyes peeled for lions, buffalo, cheetahs, giraffes, baboons, gazelles, hippos, and wildebeest. Weather permitting, be awestruck by the breathtaking views of the snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro. Return to your lodge for dinner and a restful overnight stay.

Day 3: Amboseli National Park, Kenya

Enjoy both morning and afternoon game viewing drives in Amboseli National Park, one of Africa’s best places for up-close elephant encounters. Discover the park’s diverse habitats, from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli and wetlands with sulphur springs to the savannah and woodlands. “Amboseli,” meaning “salty dust” in Masai, offers incredible photographic opportunities. Savor delicious meals and enjoy an overnight stay in Amboseli.

Day 4: Amboseli National Park – Aberdare National Park, Tanzania

After breakfast, depart for Aberdare National Park. Upon arrival at the Aberdare Country Club, you’ll receive a warm welcome and enjoy lunch. As space at The Ark Lodge is limited (only small overnight bags are permitted), your excess luggage will be securely stored at the Country Club. From there, you’ll be transferred to The Ark Lodge, nestled deep within the park and surrounded by lush green forest. Spend your night watching wildlife from the lodge decks, which overlook a floodlit waterhole and salt lick. An underground bunker offers even closer views and fantastic photographic opportunities. The resident guide will buzz your room for special animal sightings at the waterhole.

Day 5: Aberdare National Park – Lake Nakuru National Park, Tanzania

Enjoy breakfast before returning to the Aberdare Country Club to collect your luggage. Then, proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park, with a brief stopover at the scenic Thompson’s Falls. Arrive at your lodge for lunch, followed by an afternoon game viewing drive. The picturesque Lake Nakuru National Park, covering 188km², is home to both black and white rhinos, as well as lions, cape buffalos, waterbucks, reticulated giraffes, and hartebeests, among others. When water levels are low, the 68km² alkaline lake is famous for its spectacular congregations of thousands of greater and lesser flamingos. The park also boasts the largest euphorbia forest in Africa.

Day 6: Lake Nakuru National Park – Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya

After an early breakfast, depart for the world-renowned Masai Mara National Reserve, arriving for check-in and lunch. Embark on an exciting afternoon game viewing drive in search of the hundreds of wildlife species that make this reserve famous. Keep an eye out for the “Big Five” – lion, Cape buffalo, savannah elephant, black rhino, and the elusive leopard – as well as numerous other species including impalas, Masai giraffes, waterbucks, warthogs, Thompson’s and Grant’s gazelles, topis, and resident wildebeests.

Day 7: Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya

Enjoy breakfast followed by a full day dedicated to game viewing drives in the Masai Mara Game Reserve. This is your best chance to witness the incredible diversity of wildlife and potentially see a hunt or other fascinating animal behavior. The Mara’s vast plains and grasslands also provide a habitat for hundreds of bird species. You have the optional activity of a Balloon Safari over the Mara plains (at an extra cost of US$ 425 per person according to) or a visit to a traditional Masai Village (Manyatta) for a cultural experience (at an extra cost of US$ 30 per person according to). Enjoy all meals and another overnight at the Mara Camp (or similar).

If time permits, enjoy a farewell lunch in Nairobi before our guide driver transfers you to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) for your onward flight.

What are the facilities available at the camps?

A pillow, towel and sleeping bag are required for this tour. Bathroom facilities on the trip can be basic (basic showers and toilets by western standards, the campsites are managed by the government national park). Consult the itinerary for further details or ask your consultant if you aren't sure.

What visas do I need for this trip?

Visas for both Kenya and Tanzania are required by most nationalities, these are the client's own responsibility and you are advised to pre-arrange these with the respective authorities.

What else should I be aware of before going on this East Africa tour?

Seasonal precautions against Malaria are advisable. The recommended currency for this tour is the US Dollar and notes in small denominations should be brought along for expenses not included. A small day pack is advisable. Our price includes transport - Nairobi to Nairobi, accommodation, entry fees, park fees, permits, group equipment, professional guides, and most meals.
