Itinerary

Day 1: Entebbe, Uganda

A meet and greet service will be provided at the airport, followed by a transfer to your hotel

Day 2: Entebbe – Murchison Falls, Uganda

Your driver will pick you up at your hotel in Entebbe and drive you to Murchison Falls. Visit the Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch along the way, which has the honour of being the only wild rhino sanctuary in Uganda. A total of 19 southern white rhinos live in the sanctuary at the moment. With all the activities the ranch has to offer, including rhino trekking, bird watching, nature walks, and relaxation, the ranch has become increasingly popular with tourists. Following a picnic lunch, we will drive to one of Uganda’s oldest conservation areas, Murchison Falls. A journey of approximately 9 hours is expected excluding the stop. Murchison National Park is located in the northern part of Albertine Rift Valley, where the huge Bunyoro escarpment merges with the vast Acholi plains.

Day 3: Murchison Falls, Uganda

You will be taken on a morning game drive in Murchison Falls National Park in search of wildlife such as elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hartebeest, and oribi after an early breakfast. Afterwards, you will be taken on a boat ride that will include a cheese and wine tasting. This boat trip to view the magnificent Murchison Falls is a highlight of any visit to Murchison Falls Conservation Area. Boat trips are normally scheduled in the morning and afternoon. In addition to hippos and crocodiles, you will see a wide variety of birds and game. The voyage takes about three hours. Lunch will be served at the lodge followed by a game drive in the evening

Day 4: Murchison Falls – Kibale, Uganda

The journey to Kibale National Park will begin with an early breakfast, passing through verdant countryside and traditional homesteads and farms as you travel to Fort Portal. Picnic lunch will be provided. Among the most beautiful and diverse tracts of tropical forest in Uganda is Kibale National Park. Northern and central parts of the park are dominated by forest, interspersed with patches of grassland and swamp.

Day 5: Kibale, Uganda

Enjoy a trekking excursion in the Budongo Forest with man’s closest genetic relative, the cheeky chimpanzee. The afternoon will be spent in Bigodi Swamp, where you will be guided to look for rare bird species such as Shining Blue Kingfishers, Blue Throated Rollers, and other species, as well as fruiting trees that attract Narina Trogons, Pied Hornbills, Yellow Spotted Barbets, HairBreasted Barbets and Yellow-Billed Barbets.

Day 6: Kibale – Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda

During the morning drive through the dramatic landscape of the Crater Lakes, enjoy a delicious breakfast. The afternoon will be spent in Queen Elizabeth National Park. There is no doubt that this National Park is the most popular tourist destination in Uganda. It is home to a variety of ecosystems, including a sprawling savannah, shady, humid forests, shimmering lakes, and fertile wetlands.

Day 7: Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda

Following breakfast, we embark on a morning game drive in order to explore the National Park. Visit the Kazinga Channel in the afternoon, where the largest concentration of hippos and Nile crocodiles can be found.

Day 8: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Bwindi, Uganda

Following breakfast, enjoy game viewing in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure or participate in one of the numerous optional activities available in the surrounding area (if time permits).

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking – Bwindi, Uganda

Your day begins with an early breakfast before you are taken to the Park Headquarters for a briefing, followed by a drive to the start point of your trek. A good level of walking fitness is essential for the trek, as it can be quite strenuous. A basket weaving session will then be conducted with the women of the Buhoma community from grass collected from the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Women in this community earn an income from these baskets. In the gardens, you will be able to sit and relax as the women introduce you to the skills of weaving. As part of your tea break, you may enjoy delicious homemade doughnuts and cinnamon bread.

Day 10: Bwindi – Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda

We will leave Bwindi for Lake Mburo National Park after breakfast. An afternoon boat cruise can be enjoyed late in the afternoon. This park is home to 350 bird species, zebra, impala, eland and leopard just to name a few.

Day 11: Lake Mburo National Park – Entebbe/Kampala, Uganda

The morning will begin with a game drive within the National Park, following breakfast. After leaving Lake Mburo, you will proceed to Kampala/Entebbe. In the event that you have time, you may wish to stop at the Equator for some curio shopping and a photo opportunity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Transport

Fully equipped 4x4 Toyota Land Cruises are used that seat 12 people. The windows are large which is perfect for game viewing and the vehicle are air-conditioned. All excess luggage is carried on the roof racks to ensure comfort in the vehicle.

Travelling Times and Distances

Travelling times vary due to road conditions, border crossings, detours and weather conditions. Travelling on the roads is far different to travelling in your home country so sit back and enjoy the scenery.

Accommodation

The accommodation is middle of the range African standard lodges. Some of these are in National Parks, on the banks of the river, or other places of interest. You will stay in a mix of lodges, chalets and tented camps. You can enjoy en-suites and the facilities in the accommodation such as the pool and bar areas.

Meals

Most breakfasts and dinners are included on the tour and can be enjoyed in the restaurants. On some nights the guide will prepare traditional African food. Please advise us beforehand regarding special dietary requirements.
