Route Overview

The race is a whopping 109km long, starting at Hertzog Boulevard, at the Cape Town Civic Centre. It is also one of the most scenic cycling routes taking cyclists through Muizenberg, along the False Bay coast to Simon’s Town and Smitswinkel Bay. Then crossing the peninsula in a westerly direction, past the entrance to Cape of Good Hope. It then heads north along the Atlantic coast through the picturesque coastal areas of Scarborough, Kommetjie, Noordhoek, Chapmans Peak, Hout Bay over Suikerbossie hill to Camps Bay and ends next to the Cape Town Stadium in Green Point. Cyclists will spend most of their time concentrating on the road ahead of them, but the beautiful beaches and surrounding mountains should bring some relief to their spirits as they press on.

The weather has played a huge part in the race, stopping it twice due to soaring temperatures and gale force winds, blowing cyclists off their bikes!

This is a perfect time for cyclists and their friends and family to spend some time in the Cape. When you enter the race be sure to book a few extra days at a B&B or hotel and discover what else Cape Town has to offer.
